Mount Abu

A pleasant retreat set amidst the lush forested hills, Mt. Abu is a green oasis in the barren desertscape that's Rajasthan. Situated at the southern tip of the Aravali range the hill retreat owes its cool climate to its rich flora covering the entire hillside that includes coniferous trees and flowering shrubs. The road leading to Mount Abu is a curved one characterized by arid region dotted with huge rocks in weird shapes and high velocity winds.

Dilwara Jain Temple

Among various worth visiting attractions of Mount Abu, Gaumukh Temple has its own importance. It is situated at the very short distance of 2 km from Mount Abu where famous Vedic Sage Vashistha Muni performed the great fire sacrifice. It is also known as Vashistha Ashram. The temple houses the images of Vashistha, Lord Rama and Lord Krishna. These beautifully carved temples built between 11th and 13th century A.D. are sheer elegance in marble, dedicated to the jain Tirthankaras.The central shrine has an image of Rishabhdev and large courtyard with 52 small shrines.

Nakki Lake

Another major attraction of Mount Abu tour is Nakki Lake - the Love Lake of the virgin teenager and the aging sage Balam Rasia. Located in the heart of the town Nakki Lake is peaceful lake and popular picnic spot. Nakki Lake enjoys exceptional scenic beauty. According to legend this beautiful lake was carved out by gods with their Nakh (Nails). Nakki is a small lake with small islets that can be reached by a boat. The location of the lake, the rich surroundings and amazing landscape views is a regular crowd puller.

 

Brahma Kumaris Spiritual University and Museum

The university's stated aim is the establishment of universal peace through the impartation of spiritual knowledge and training of easy raja yoga meditation. To attend one of these residential courses, contact your local branch and arrange things in advance. There is no charge- the organization is entirely supported by donations.

 

Guru Shikhar

The highest peak on the mount (1722 mts. above the sea level) allows a birds eye view of the sylvan surroundings of Mt. Abu. A small Shaivite shrine and a temple of Dattatreya standing on the shikhar are worth a visit.

 

Honeymoon Point

Also known as Andra Point, Honeymoon point offers a panoramic vista of the lush green valley and plains. On account of its exceptional beauty, this area is very popular among honeymooners. If you are honeymooners and want to enjoy its real beauty, stay there till sunset and get sank in its romantic ambience with your life partner. Surely it will be a mesmerizing experience of your life time.Honeymoon Point, 2.5 kms northwest on Ganesh Road, also known as Andra Point, offers an enchanting view of the verdant plains and valleys. The place looks most beautiful during the dusk hours. The route to Honeymoon Point goes past the Nakki Lake.

 

Sunset Point

Sunset Point is very popular among honeymooners and offers romantic vista of Sunset. Mesmerizing vista of crimson flush of sunset kissing the verdant plains on the horizon is absolutely an incomparable experience. Sunset Point, 1.5 km from the tourist office of Mount Abu, is the most popular. Hoards stroll out here every evening to catch the setting sun, the food stalls and all the usual entertainment. Is is a one kilometer walk from the road to the viewpoint or you can hire a horse.

 

Achalgarh

Another attraction is Achalgarh in the north of Mount Abu is a cluster of temples, amongst which Achaleswar Mahadev Temple is noteworthy, built around 1412 A.D and the Kantinath Jain Temple, build around 1513 A.D. This alluring complex was build around 14 century by great warrior Rana Kumbha of Mewar.
